Visual Voices – “A Place Called Compland”

Visual Voices, a professional lecture series sponsored by the School of Art, invites eight nationally recognized visiting artists and designers to speak about their work and the world of art and design. In addition to providing a look inside the studios of these top professionals, the series offers students the opportunity to interact with them during daytime seminars and studio visits.

School of Art welcomes Sadie Barnette to the 2017-18 lecture series. Barnette is from Oakland, California. She earned her BFA from CalArts and her MFA from the University of California, San Diego. Her work has been exhibited throughout the United States and internationally. She currently lives and works in Oakland, CA and Compton, CA and is represented by Charlie James Gallery in Los Angeles.
